Lakeview Springs is hosting its' first ever Walk Through Bethlehem! We will call it "Bethlehem Boulevard." The event will involve many costumed actors who are portraying everyday life in the town of Bethlehem. A main scene will be a choir of angels singing "Gloria" to the shepherds in the big grassy field. This will be an all outdoor walk. The walk is various short scenes (1-3 minutes) that guests walk through on a short trail at camp. The second to the last stop is the innkeeper directing the guests to the stable where they find Mary, Joseph, Jesus and others. Even this scene will involve dialogue. The total time from when people leave their cars to when they are done viewing all the scenes will be about 20 minutes. After they are done viewing the town scenes, we will invite them into the Lodge for a cup of cocoa and some treats.
If you are interested in a speaking part, you will be asked to memorize 1-2 paragraphs that you will repeat to every group of 10-12 people who come by. You will wear a costume over your normal winter coat and clothes (you are welcome to create your own authentic to the time!) There will be a tour guide stationed at each area who will also speak a 1-3 paragraph memorized piece giving guests some background information. We will also need Welcoming Tour Guides (who can also double as angel singers) to greet people as they come from their cars and get them started on the walk.
We are asking that all angels create their own costume using white, gold, yellow or silver. The more angels, the better! You will be able to rehearse the singing piece alone or with your church choir before our rehearsal date.
We are looking for live animals that would be appropriate for the Christmas story - especially a number of sheep, a couple cows, a horse or donkey, goats and chickens. We would ask the owners to bring them both nights and be willing to supervise their animals for the event.
The only rehearsal would be Sunday, December 1st at 5:30pm. The two performances will be Saturday, December 7th and Sunday, December 8th from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
